In 2008, the "Illustrative", the worldwide biggest
art exhibition, exclusively dealing with illustration, proclaims, in
collaboration with Swatch, a competition for young
artists.
They are given the opportunity to enrich the genre
with their illustrations, graphic works and animations and to call
attention with their art. The art pieces, which are awarded with a
prize, will also be exhibited at Illustrative 08 within an own
section.

performer, athlete or other that pushes the limits in your work
physically, mentally and/or emotionally and do you want people to
watch? Do you have video footage of you or someone else who does and
does it reflect an element of masochism?
apexart invites short
performance video submissions as described above for an interesting
evening of discussion related to an exhibition involving
reconstructive surgery and the objectification of the human
body.

The Creative Capital | Warhol
Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program supports writing on
contemporary visual art through project-based grants issued directly
to individual authors. The Arts Writers Grant Program funds in four
categories: books; short-form writing; articles; and blogs/new and
alternative media projects.
Beginning with its 2008 cycle,
the Arts Writers Grant Program is implementing a new Letter of
Inquiry (LOI) phase for all book proposals, which will serve as a
gateway to the general grant application phase. The addition of the
LOI will enable the Arts Writers Grant Program to process a higher
volume of book proposals and to consider book projects at an earlier
stage of their development.

Curator seeks Proposals from African
American Artists working in New Media, Video. SHIFT 2009: In the
past ten years the digital information revolution has shifted the
way we go about teaching, learning, making art, doing business, even
shopping. Tennessee State University's Space for New Media
(Nashville, TN) is a space dedicated to African American innovative
efforts in New Media.

Residency for
New York State emerging artists

Established in 1990, the Workspace Program now offers
six annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create
new work in handmade paper. The program seeks to encourage emerging
artists to explore the creative possibilities of handmade paper,
develop this art form, and promote the artists through exhibitions
of their work produced at Dieu Donné.

The V&A is establishing a series of six
month residencies in the Sackler Centre for arts education at the
V&A (opening summer 2008). A partnership between the V&A,
londonprintstudios and London Printworks Trust presents a new
opportunity for mid career practitioners to have a studio at the
V&A and to have access to the partners' print workshops for six
months, commencing in January 2009. Proposals are invited from non
UK based artists and makers working with, or wishing to work in
print, who wish to develop their practice through working with the
V&A collections, using the facilities at the London Printworks
Trust and londonprintstudio and by engaging in the public programmes
that all three partner organisations run.
