Theme: the
participants are invited to explore any themes related to the

creatively and visionary present their representations and feelings
around the "environment-human being- nature" theme.
Aims
and objectives: This competition aims to bring together
individual and collective memories through an original approach, in
other words to raise environmental awareness through new
interpretation and discoveries. We believe that the poetic language
of the video art embraces possible codes/interpretations, capable of
engaging with the audience conscience and consequently change their
sense of responsibility toward the environment. FestArte Festival
and VideoArt: This competition is part of the FestArte Festival,
which was born four years ago and whose main objectives are to
promote the arts and culture (curators and artists) through a series
of annual events to young people as well as to raise awareness
around issues which surround the contemporary society using the
multi-faceted languages of the arts. Selected video will be judged
primarily by the selection committee and ultimately by a jury
comprised of professionals of the communication, environment and
arts sectors. The Shortlisted videos will be shown to the public in
the VideoArt exhibition during FestArte Festival, and the audience
will be invited to give their votes too.
Location:
Shortlisted videos will be projected in a 1000/capacity venue in
Rome. Eventually, other spaces will be assigned to the
not-shortlisted, in case the Jury will find it appropriate.

The
Fundacion Guasch Coranty is a private foundation run by a board of
trustees from the University of Barcelona, concretely the rector,
the dean and the secretary of the Faculty of Fine Arts. The
purpose of the foundation is to grant annual scholarships for
artistic creation in the distinct fields and aimed at the students
of the faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona.
Moreover, in the near future there are plans to organize an
international painting prize. This vocation of supporting and
encouraging students of fine arts was born out of the enthusiastic
dedication to art, heritage and to culture of the husband and wife
partnership of Francesc Guasch -painter, critic and museum
technician- and Emília Coranty -painter and teacher- who in their
will in 1929 bequeathed their estate to the Official School of Arts
and Artistic Trades and Fine Arts of Barcelona, which today has
become the Fine Arts Faculty.
EXHIBITIONS
«12,5» Kunstverein INGAN e.V., Brunnenstr., Berlin/Mitte
Deadline: Monday 26th of November 2007
Title:
«12,5» Date of exhibition: 7th-21st of December 2007
Place of Exhibition: Kunstverein
INGAN e.V., Brunnenstr., Berlin/Mitte
Address for the
Application: Kunstverein INGAN e.V., Brunnenstr. 29,
10119 Berlin, Germany
Concept: The number
in the title of this exhibition aims to a 13th time range which
could be located between December and January according to our
calendar and its 12 month rhythm. You can hear the saying "between
the years" which is a colloquial expression for a certain downtime
in which often "tabula rasa" is being held. In the New Year this can
have results in terms of personal, commercial or visionary matters.
As an institution for visual arts we would like to offer artists
this kind of time, even though only as a theoretical value. The "in
between" is highlighted. A not scaleable but recognisable time range
can be detected and can be visually represented. Topics like
"clearing", "catharsis", "time out", "break" or "speed limitation"
according to private and commercial issues are getting important.
Also some number immanent associations caused by cultural or
individual imprint and connected with 12 or 13 can be relevant for
the work. The theories of sets or a break between natural numbers
are mathematical approaches to the "dozen and a half" or the "twelve
comma five". Also "12,5" could have the meaning of an rating for a
sporty achievement. The human loves to measure, size and value,
doesn't he?
