Galleria Studios Residency Programme, London
Deadline: Fri 12 Oct 2007

Acme Studios and Southwark Council are offering a second artist's residency in collaboration with the SLG starting in January 2008. A free studio for 18 months at The Galleria plus a grant of £10,000 with mentoring and guidance from the SLG is offered to an artist living or working in Southwark and involved in socially engaged practice.

For an application pack click here (available after Mon 3 Sep 2007) or call 020 8981 6811 for further information.

Further information about the programme

The Galleria Studios Residency Programme was established in 2006, following the completion of 50 permanent new-build studios at The Galleria in Peckham. The residency will be awarded annually to a Southwark-based artist, who receives a rent-free studio (worth £3,000 a year) for the year, plus a cash stipend of £10,000.
This is an opportunity for an artist who is involved in socially engaged practice to develop significant relationships with cultural agencies and communities in the borough. It is also a financial breathing-space, allowing an artist to focus on the development of their practice.
The residency is supported by three key agencies: Acme, Southwark Council and the South London Gallery whose curator and director will visit the artist four times throughout the year. Acme aims to nurture and extend the relationship between the artist, their work and the wider community, to achieve publicly visible outcomes at the end of the programme and encourage greater participation in arts practice.
