Piemonte Share Festival, Turin, Italy Registration must

Piemonte
Share Festival announces the second edition of the Share Prize 2008
for digital art. The prize aims to discover, promote and sustain
digital arts. The competition jury will award a prize of Euro
2,500.00 to the work (published or unpublished) which best
represents experimentation between arts and new technologies. The
candidates for the prize (a short list of a maximum of 6
competitors) will be guests at the 4th edition of the Share
Festival, taking place in Turin in March 2008 at the Accademia
Albertina di Belle Arti, Turin. In order to be declared winner of
the prize, every artist has to take part in the 4th edition of Share
Festival, by preparing his or her work of art, to be properly
evaluated by jury and public.
The organization is available
at offering all the costs regarding the preparation of the 6
selected works as well as travel and accommodation expenses for the
artists, and, possibly, the prize itself". Nomination of 6
candidates for the prize by November, 2007. The announcement will be
published on the following website. The winner will be announced in
March 2008 during the award ceremony at Share Festival.

The ArtCenter/South Florida, located on 800 Lincoln
Road in Miami Beach Florida, is currently seeking proposals and
applications for the Juried Exhibition and Artist-in-Residence
Programs. Deadline: September 3rd,
2007
ArtCenter/South Florida, a non-profit organization
founded in 1984, advances the knowledge and practice of
contemporary visual arts and culture in South Florida.
ArtCenter exists to provide affordable workspace on Lincoln Road in
Miami Beach for outstanding visual artists and curators in all
stages of career development.
Both Juried Artist and
Exhibition applications are reviewed bi-annually. The deadlines for
applications are April 1 and September 1 each year. A
panel of six jurors comprised of art professionals and artists
evaluate applications.
Exhibition Proposals are awarded to
projects which are of unique social interest, explore new art forms
and/or explore the role of art and artists in contemporary culture.
Juried Artist status and its benefits are valid for a term of three
years from the date of jury selection. Studios are awarded to
Artists who are committed to their own artistic development and
interested in being a part of a dynamic arts organization. The
primary criteria for long term selection (max of three year term)
are technical proficiency and conceptual innovation, as evident in
your visual documentation.
3-6 Month Juried Artist is a
project based program for artists and/or collaborative groups to
explore within conceptual innovation and advance their technical

Open to artists over
the age of 18 residing in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Entries must be original fine art prints in any media except
straight photography. Image size may not exceed 60 square inches
(height x width). Dates of exhibition are January 7 through February
17, 2008. Juror will be Janet Ballweg, Professor of Printmaking,
Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Selections will be made from
a review of 35 mm slides or digital images in the form of jpeg files
(maximum dimension of eight inches in image size - maximum
resolution of 300 dpi). A non- refundable entry fee of $25 entitles
the artist to submit up to three (3) images of original works.
Deadline for entries is 5:00 pm on Friday, September 21,

manager operates under the auspices of the assistant scientific
director and is directly responsible for a team of
registrars.
Job Description:
- Definition and creation of a programming policy in agreement
with the general director and the assistant scientific director.
- Development and organisation of artistic projects, exhibitions
and events in partnership with artists, as well as national and
international institutions.
- Development of programming in direct collaboration with the
other departments of the museum.
- Reinforcement of the creation of the museum's international
network in relation to the contemporary art scene.

Applicant Profile:
- Higher educational qualifications with specialisation in art

Summary: Exit Art seeks an Associate Curator
to partner with the Founding Directors and curatorial staff to
formulate and implement a diverse array of programming. In 2007,
Exit Art celebrates its 25th Anniversary year as one of New York's
leading multidisciplinary art centers and a catalyst of the
experimental art scene. The organization will launch five new
initiatives including S.E.A. (Social Environmental Aesthetics)
focusing on artists who address contemporary environmental issues.
Responsibilities: The Associate Curator position
entails: conceptualizing, creating, and coordinating exhibitions;
publicizing and promoting exhibitions and serving as a press
liaison; and providing development assistance such as writing grant
narratives.
The successful candidate will be engaged with the
international contemporary art scene; must possess at least two
years of prior curatorial experience; a deep commitment to
contemporary art and artists; and the willingness to work for a
fluid and dynamic arts organization. Strong writing skills are also

o With
Director (and Interns): Acquire know-how and be responsible for
upkeep of all exhibition-related inventories, including White Box
invitation cards, books, CD's, DVD's, server and hard copy
folders/files.
o In addition, with Administration and
Development Director: Learn to plan and negotiate best costs, obtain
estimates and take charge of ordering and purchasing any and all
budget approved exhibition and administration related, including
electronics, hardware, tools, equipment and supplies (office, space
cleaning).
o Learn to recruit, schedule and assign Interns
and Volunteers in all organization areas such as curatorial,
operations, press and communications (printed mailers and electronic
Evites and Announcements), grant research and writing, fundraising,
on site and electronic monthly audience survey upkeep,
administration and overall managerial aspects. First and foremost
learn to take charge and ensure exhibition space is always
maintained through duration of exhibits, during and after events, by
organizing sweeping, mopping, changing lights, and other general
maintenance as needed (including reception and restroom areas +
supplies).
o Take Responsibility of tracking all cash
receipts, debit charges, vendor and independent contractors receipts
and invoices. With Administration and Director of Program
Development, learn to take part of payment processing and learn to
work with annual and monthly exhibition and operating
budgets.
o Learn to plan, implement and prepare ahead: With
Director and Development Director be involved in calendar-scheduling
of exhibitions, fundraisers, events, special programs (VideoBox,
Out-of-the-Box, White Box Speaks, New Composers Series). Learn to
Manage production, implementation, presentation and dismantling of
entire annual programs, events and fundraisers.
o Work with
Director and all other staff in communicating with curators and
artists. Generate Contractual Agreements, Consignment Forms,
Condition Reports, Check / Pricelists, Exhibition Books, Artwork
Labels, Signage (when applicable).
o Work with
Administration and Development Director and learn to update various
insurance policies and pricing with Fine Arts Insurance Agent.
Responsible for packaging as well as arranging and pricing art
shipments to and from White Box (with appropriate contact person or
organizer to each exhibition).
o Work with Director, staff,
curators, artists and/or appropriate contact to generate mass emails
and exhibition invitations. Responsible for external communications
with press, including listings publications, web listings and
web-site updates.
o Learn to generate Exhibition Check
/Price lists (with appropriate captions and credits). Work with
Interns and Volunteers in perusal of check/price lists and terms and
conditions of each lending/consigned artwork. Learn to train interns
in daily reception and opening/closing of exhibition/space
responsibilities.
o Learn to generate with staff and interns
artist bio/c.v. and press binder, and create signage and information
for panel topics, w/panelist bio information.
o Learn to
update staff and interns of 3-month exhibition and other events
(benefit fundraisers, workshops, panels), install/de-install
timeframes. Encourages intern participation in the aforementioned.
o Learn to update White Box entire exhibition history and
databases for P.R., Marketing, Grant and Benefit Fundraisers and
Archival purposes. Collaborates on Fundraising portfolio of Benefits
and other Board- driven campaigns.
o Learn to plan for
archival documentation of exhibitions and events, including digital
photographs, sound recordings, and video recordings as needed.
o Learn to troubleshoot and maintain all computer systems,
hiring outside expertise as needed, negotiating fees and rates with
Development Director.
o Learn, with other staff to maintain
open communication with Board of Directors (preferably through a
bi-monthly E-newsletter). Works with Administration to remind Board
of Directors of general meetings and special benefit events.

92 : Smack Mellon, Brooklyn, New York Deadline is November 15,
2007 (postmarked).
Smack Mellon is seeking proposals of
site-specific work for an upcoming show incorporating installations
that take into account the interesting and challenging architecture
of the new space at 92 Plymouth Street @ the corner of Washington
Street.
Site 92 is scheduled to open in January 2008.
Proposals submitted or postmarked after the deadline will not be
considered. Proposals should not be sent FedEX or UPS, as there may
be no one in the office to receive the package.
Notification Artists will be notified of
decisions the first week of December.
Viewing the space
Artists can stop by Smack Mellon's space during its regular
gallery hours Wednesday thru Sunday 12-6pm to look at the space.
Artists should also download a map of the space on the website
www.smackmellon.org and mark where their proposed installation would
be and include this in their proposal.
Specifics about the
installation of artwork, the equipment and resources that Smack
Mellon is able to provide will be discussed after the initial
proposal has been reviewed and accepted as a proposal under
consideration.
Guidelines 1. 10 to 20 Slides or
Prints Standard slides organized in a plastic slide holder page
or standard prints. All slides must be labeled with your name,
title, medium, date and dimensions. Please mark top and front of
each one and number them corresponding to a slide
list.
Video VHS or DVD format: Video segment should be no
longer than 5 minutes and cued to the appropriate segment for panel
to view. Only moving images, ie.time based media, video art or
documentation of performance art, should be submitted on VHS or DVD.
For DVD pieces containing several pieces, please make each piece a
chapter on the DVD for easier viewing.
CD If you must
submit images of still artwork digitally, please save them as jpgs
only, no bigger than 6 inches on any side at 300 dpi. But we
strongly encourage sending hardcopy print outs or slides over this
option for easier viewing.
2. SCRIPT For Slides: The
numbers on the slide list should correspond with the numbers marked
on the slides. Include the title, date, medium, dimensions, and a
brief description of the work (less than 50 words for each
slide). For Video: Include title, date, and a brief description
of the work (less than 250 words).
3. RESUME Please
include your name, address, phone number and email address along
with exhibition and educational background.
4. ARTIST'S
STATEMENT with a description of the work, an explanation of the idea
and how the work relates to the space.
5. A DRAWING of the
proposed project. Please download the map on the website and mark
where your proposed installation would be situated.
6. SASE
with sufficient postage for the return of your materials. Drop offs
during regular gallery hours are welcome but pick-ups are not so all
packages must include a SASE. Material sent without an SASE will not
be returned. Please send all materials by US Mail only. Do not send
packages larger than 15" x 22".
Installation
Guidelines Artists involved in exhibitions are responsible for
the execution and installation of their own artwork. Artists should
understand that they are responsible for delivering their work to
the gallery, installing and de- installing their work. Smack Mellon
does not have a full-time staff of preparators. Smack Mellon staff
can assist in installation of work requiring a lift or special
mounting, when arranged in advance. Our part-time staff may also
assist artists with installation of other complicated projects but
will not be involved in helping the artist build their work on
site.

Viewing
Program, The Drawing Center, New York Deadline: Ongoing
The Drawing Center has announced the reorganization of
its Viewing Program, which offers an opportunity for emerging
artists to present their drawings to the curatorial staff for
review, as well as for possible inclusion in the Slide Registry and
a Selections exhibition or Drawing Room project. The Artist Registry
is used by The Drawing Center's curatorial staff and is open to
other arts professionals (including curators, gallerists, and
scholars). Approximately three times per year The Drawing Center
presents group shows of emerging and under- represented artists
curated from the Viewing Program and Artist Registry's pool of 2,500
artists. Artists are eligible to submit their work for consideration
for the Viewing Program and Artist Registry if they do not have an
affiliation with a New York gallery and are not currently attending
school. Artists from across the country and abroad are encouraged to
apply.

RESIDENCY

Africa Beyond aims to keep
African culture in a central position within the modern UK
landscape, through its website and other media, lively public
events, and now through a series of residencies in Africa for
contemporary artists beginning in January 2008.
Three
UK-based artists will be hosted on two- and three- months
residencies by Kuona Trust (Nairobi, Kenya), Bag Factory
(Johannesburg, South Africa) or Greatmore Studios (Cape Town, South
Africa).
Established and emerging contemporary visual
artists from UK, who have not worked in Kenya or South Africa
before, are invited to apply for this programme.
Applications must state which residency/institution the
artist would like to become involved in.

Keyholder
Residency Program : Lower East Side Printshop, New
York
The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging
artists free 24-hour access to professional printmaking facilities
to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies
are free and one year long, starting on April 1st and October 1st
each year, and they take place in the Artists' Studio, including the
solvent/etching area and the darkroom.
Keyholders work
independently, in a productive atmosphere alongside other
contemporary artists. They are not required to have any printmaking
experience; facilities can be used for creative work in various
mediums. Basic instreuction in printmaking is available for new
Keyholders who are interested. Technical assistance is not included
in the program, but is available at additional
cost.
Participation is limited and competitive. Applications
are evaluated by a committee of peers, based on the quality of
submitted artwork.
Keyholder Residency includes:
- 24-hour studio access
- storage space
- basic supplies (newsprint, blotters, solvents, cleaners)
- 20% discount on all Printshop classes
- free digital documentation of selected works produced during
the residency
