SUBMISSION FORM

Xperimental Film Festival, Nicosia, Cyprus.
Deadline: 31 July 2007

Following the success of the previous experimental film festivals, the experimental music (Sonic Arts) and the Urban Soul Festival, the PANTHEON Cultural Association is quickly establishing itself as the official playground for Cypriot and International experimentalists.

Experimentation is described as an upcoming art movement, which has recently introduced itself to the Cyprus arts scene with surprising dynamism. In itself, experimentation can be seen objectively, individually and most of all personally. The character of any form of experimentation in art releases an honest and playful visual expression. The participants of the Xperimental festival have each d eveloped their own unique style of film producing an atmospheric result either technically, visually, or through a given concept. The beauty of experimental films lies within its final result, and its result can best be described as removing boundaries and limits within art. The festivals' main aim, throughout its brief but successful history, has been to give creative people of all kinds a medium and an opportunity to let them show the Cyprus audience their own personal visions through film. The Pantheon Cultural Association believes that experimentation in all forms of art must be supported in order to keep the vibe fresh ideas and new ways of thinking alive

FILM & VIDEO & NEW MEDIA
Impure Cinema: Hybrid Works Rupturing Media's Boundaries, Studio 27, San Francisco
Submission Deadline (received by): August 1, 2007

Studio 27 a San Francisco screening series that showcases experimental media, is looking for short videos and films for our next program, scheduled for August 2007. This show will focus on hybrid media.

Please share with us your films and videos that cross the limitations of particular mediums and/ or works that defy genre classification. We are especially interested in screening works which call attention to their construction by the conventions of genre, and also pieces that confuse or highlight the distinction between different mediums, such as analog vs. digital imaging technologies.

We are requesting work less than 30 minutes in length on playable DVDs (all region), MiniDVs (NTSC), or data DVDs (as a Quicktime movie file, especially for digital animations). Please note that the copy you submit will be the screening master, so higher quality copies are preferred by us.

Include with your submission a short filmmaker bio and a brief written description of the work, which includes mediums, year produced, duration, and country of origin. Also include a SASE if you would like your materials returned to you (only U.S. mail will be returned).

MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire, USA.
Deadline: 15 September, 2007

OVERVIEW
The Colony is designed to facilitate a balance between a focus on work and interdisciplinary interaction. Private studios are available to artists 24 hours a day along with the dining and recreation rooms at Colony Hall, providing an environment adaptable to each individual's needs. To ensure the autonomy and privacy of all Colonists, no one may visit a studio without an invitation. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room while lunch is delivered to each studio. After dinner, occasional presentations are a traditional, elective part of the stimulating and supportive environment. Readings, slide shows, open studios, and informal performances allow Colonists to become acquainted with and inspired by one another's work. Friendships established among artists-in-residence often lead to collaborations and connections beyond the Colony.

The maximum length of residence is two months; an average stay is four weeks. There are between 20 and 30 artists at MacDowell at any given time; arrivals and departures are ongoing.
