Concept and Idea of Anonymous Drawings
Drawings (size max. DIN A3 = 29,70 x 42,00 cm / 11" x 17") by anonymous artists will be shown in the gallery on the scheduled evening; the exhibiting artists will remain anonymous until their work(s) are sold.

Works will sell for a uniform price of Euro 100. buyers will be informed of the artist’s identity upon purchase of his/her work.

The artists agree to stay their individual person in the background in favour of their product. Such works will be returned to the artist at the latest in October 2007. Photography and Contemporary Tactics at BAC Gallery (Brooklyn Arts Council), NY
Curator: Meredith Wisner, Art Historian
Deadline : Thursday, January 31, 2007

Since its inception, photography has had an adversarial relationship with painting, each declaring its own place in the realm of fine art. Curator Meredith Wisner proposes that the most significant of photography's effects reaches outside the fine arts, to visual experience in general. The excess of images we confront in our day to day lives has generated new ways of seeing, and opened up the possibility for a collective experience. Photography and Contemporary Tactics is an exhibition that attempts to explore photography's continual influence on visual culture.

We invite photographers and painters to submit works for consideration for Photography and Contemporary Tactics that exemplify new ideas, techniques and methodologies which have been advanced by the continued interaction of painting and photography.

All painting and photography media will be accepted for consideration.

Photography and Contemporary Tactics will be on view from May 3 - July 20, 2007

FESTIVAL
ANTI Festival 2007, Kuopio, Finland
Deadline : 28 February, 2007

ANTI Festival will be organized in Kuopio in September 27–30, 2007. ANTI is a forum for experimental, radical and non-commercial art. It offers an international and visible arena to introduce art works in a city environment. The emphasis of the ANTI festival is on live art and environmental art, including light, sound, installation and performances. JOIN US!

Artists and students as well as designers from all artistic fields are encouraged to submit their new ideas and works of art.

CONTENTS OF ANTI PROPOSALS
This festival aims to activate sites/environments selected beforehand in the city of Kuopio. Art works can take place directly in the proposed location or conceptually in- or outdoors. The participating artists select the location for their works from the proposed location options. The list of sites can be viewed on our festival website.

It is essential for the proposals to take the audience and customers that are already present at each location into consideration. Site-specificity is an extremely important factor as regards assessing and selecting momentary performances as well as sculptural works. In addition to the physical location, the idea of the work can deal with the notion of space through people who work in that particular place or the values, actions or contemporary events which the location represents. Please note that the art works may also combine various locations and themes. In addition to the site-specific elements of each location, it is possible to use sound and lights in the environmentally-oriented art and performances.

FORM OF PROPOSALS AND REQUIREMENTS
The proposals must include the name of the artist and a CV, working title of the work, place, contact details, budget, technical requirements and a working plan (max. 1 page) and only one appendix (i.e. photograph, video, CD-ROM). Appendices will not be returned. The proposals do not need to be technically ready before submission as the idea can be developed afterwards. However, it is important that the main idea of the work and the estimated costs are clearly stated in the proposal. Estimated costs should include all the necessary materials, travelling costs and the artist fee. Photos and descriptions of the sites are available at ANTI 2007

The sites of the ANTI 2007 festival are Open College (Puistokartano), the reduction of the city paper Viikko-Savo, Uppo-Nalle children’s park, Grill Teatterigrilli, skateboarding spot, Vasikkasaari Island and Kuopion Osuuspankki Bank. Site-specific information will be available on our website.

Please post your application to ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival, Koljonniemenkatu 2, 2nd Floor, 70100 Kuopio, Finland or e-mail info@antifestival.com . Please note that the appendix (if necessary) should be sent by post.

PROJECT
Shapetionary, Toronto, Canada

Help Create the Shapetionary!

What is the Shapetionary? It's a visual index of objects.

It started from looking at the dictionary and wondering why some words are illustrated and others aren't, then thinking it would be interesting to illustrate the whole dictionary, or all the object nouns...then organize them by shape.

So I extracted all, or most (aprox 9500), of the object nouns, now I am setting out to get them illustrated by as many different people as possible.

I am interested in our subjective/collective understandings of objects. So far over 700 people are participating, I estimate that between 1200-1500 drawers are needed.

That's a brief description. So, if you are interested in illustrating some words, email velvetbicycle and you will receive a list of 6-8 words, along with complete instructions.
All participants will be acknowledged.
