A unique exhibition of art by nearly 300 Chicago-
based prominent,
mid-career and emerging professional artists, the
Chicago Art Open is
the largest survey of Chicago visual art under one
roof and is one of
the largest non-juried art shows in the country. The
exhibition will
be part of Chicago Artists' Month, the city-wide
celebration of
Chicago's rich visual arts community. A show of
artworks by student
artists from Chicago area colleges, universities and
art schools runs
concurrently in the same gallery with this professional
show.

The Kiosk, Christchurch, New Zealand, Call for
Proposals 2007
DEADLINE: 30 August 2006
The Kiosk is The Physics Room’s smallest gallery
space. The space was established in 2000 as the
brainchild of the Oblique Trust, and is now run by The
Physics Room. The Kiosk is a unique mini-exhibition
space replete with power, halogen lights and built-in
speakers, with floor dimensions of 700mm along the
windows, 557mm at the narrowest end, 710mm at
the widest end and 705mm high.
Expressions of interest are sought from artists and
curators interested in exhibiting in the Kiosk from
January – December 2007.

Project Creo: Digital Divide/Digital Provide
The Arts Center, St Petersburg, Florida
Deadline : August 15, 2006
Artists whose works explore ideas of how the digital
revolution has improved and divided our society,
utilizing the same technology they are critiquing. The
Center is primarily seeking proposals that create
interactive environments that will engage visitors to
the space.
Proposal must contain the following information:
- Current artist resume, including address, phone
number and email
- Brief artist statement
- Proposed work or installation for Digital
Divide/Digital Provide, including drawing of the
proposed piece, approximate size, materials utilized,
hardware needed, amount of time needed for
installation, etc.
- Slides, video, cd or photographs of your current
work
- Self addressed, stamped envelope
- Support materials, including past press (optional)

The Bridge Art Fair (formerly the Nova Art Fair),
organized by Bridge NFP, will be held at the Catalina
Hotel and Beach Club at 1732 Collins Avenue in Miami
Beach, December 7-10, 2006.
We offer a single application to all interested
exhibitors for our General Program, with a focus on an
international selection of the finest examples of
emerging and contemporary art.
Strategically located across the street from some of
South Beach's finest five star hotels, and only a few
blocks away from the Miami Convention Center and
Aqua Miami, the Bridge Art Fair Miami 2006 is poised
to take advantage of Miami's celebrated December
art marketplace and expose some of the world's most

Hell on Reels [Astoria Moving Picture

Hell on Reels
[Astoria Moving Picture Festival], named in reference
to the
infamous Hell Gate Bridge spanning NYC's East River,
is a forum for the
exhibition of exceptional and unique short format
moving image works,
including documentary, narrative, music video,
animation, design and
experimental films. The intention of the festival is
to provide a forum for the presentation of
a diverse range of moving image works and promote
creative dialogue and
collaboration among participants within the local
Queens community, greater
NYC metropolitan area and global film society.
Guidelines:
There is no fee to submit and multiple submissions are
permitted. All works
must be 15 minutes or less and all submissions must
include a completed
entry form. Submissions will not be returned.
Submissions on DVD are
preferred but miniDV/DV Cam is also
accepted

Festival for the Creative Documentary,
Netherlands, 20 - 29 November 2006
Deadline :: August 20, 2006
The
selection will emphasize creativity and originality
within the documentary. There are no restrictions
regarding the length of the film or content. If
selected, a film may be projected on film or video; if
on video, a Beta, Beta SP, or mini DV copy is
necessary. Films not in English must have subtitles in
English. Although recent work is preferred, in some
cases older films may be submitted.

To produce high quality research
and publications in new media and to undertake
teaching in the area of research and other areas
within the School of Music & Sonic Arts.
Applicants should have strong artistic and technical
background and should show evidence of engagement
new media projects, as well as a commitment to an
interdisciplinary approach to technological creative
arts. Areas of expertise can include new media,
virtual environments, live-video and Vjing, interactive
spaces, digital architecture, computer game design
and development, robotic art, hacktivism, haptics,
software art, 3D modeling, sound installation,
immersive technologies, artworks using artificial
intelligence or artificial life software. Applicants are
expected to demonstrate expertise and innovative
thinking in the design, prototyping and development
of public exhibitions or performances using new
technologies in an artistic context. The postholder
will be attached to the Sonic Arts research cluster
and will be based at the Sonic Arts Research
Centre.

The aim of this new artist in residency programme is
to provide early and
mid stage career artists with a unique opportunity to
make and showcase work
in one of Scotland's richest natural landscapes and
wildlife habitats.
- Fee of £2,000 per artist (for a two month period)

- Travel allowance (within the UK)
- £350 per artist for materials
- Use of TV, DVD player, VHS player and Sony

The residency is open to all artists, including
visual, sound, performance
and video artists. All artists must have completed a

abroad.

Residency Program at The Kimmel Harding Nelson
Center for the Arts
Nebraska City, Nebraska USA
The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts has an
established residency program that offers free
lodging, a studio and a $100/week stipend for two to
eight weeks at a time. Our Center can house five
artists/writers/composers at a time year round. We
offer an average of about 38 of 2, 4, 6 or 8 week
long residencies per year to writers, visual artists and
composers worldwide. The newly renovated Center,
inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, is
located in the historic Missouri River town of
Nebraska City in the USA. Each apartment has a
balcony and shares the use of three private
landscaped courtyards. Residents are provided with
free housing and studio space, internet access and a
$100/week stipend. Deadlines are March 1st for the
following July - December and September 1st for the
following January - June.

Shanghai Duolun MoMA Residency Program Spring
2007

The
Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art is the first
publicly funded contemporary art museum in mainland
China. In keeping with its mission to support
contemporary art and artists, the Duolun MoMA offers
an international artist-in-residence program. This
program brings artists from around the world to the
Duolun MoMA to work on individual or collaborative
projects proposed by the artists themselves. It is
intended to foster personal vision by offering a unique
opportunity for working professional artists at all
stages of their careers to expand their art and
experience by making contact with Chinese and other
international artists while working in the dynamic
environment that the city of Shanghai and the Duolun
MoMA provide.
The residence program
operates
on an open studio policy, thereby promoting
interaction between the resident artist and the
Chinese public. During the residency, artists will be
asked to run a workshop for the public concerning
their project at the Duolun MoMA. Resident artists
are given the opportunity to exhibit the successful
completion of their project in the Duolun MoMA
galleries as the culmination of their residency.
