FESTIVAL
The 23rd Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival
November 07-12, 2006.
Deadline is August 1 2006

*Accepts installation proposals in addition to films and videos.

The Kassel Documentary and Video Festival takes place annually since 1982 and is organised by the Filmladen Kassel e.V. The festival presents contemporary documentary films and videos, the media art exhibition MONITORING, a Festival Lounge for Live Visuals and the interfiction symposium. It attracts a regional audience, as well as producers and professionals of the film and media industry from Germany, Europe and the rest of the world by screening about 240 international films and videos that are seen by more than 6,000 guests each year.

We invite all filmmakers, media people, and artists to submit their latest works and projects to the different sections of the festival program.

The documentary film traditionally makes up the heart of the festival. Thus, the festival puts its main emphasis on current films and videos exploring their subject by documentary means. The festival is also interested in experimental and artistic works.

Dance On Screen 2006, London
Deadline: 21 July 2006

Mon 30 October - Sun 5 November 2006

Whether you are a filmmaker or film aficionado, Dance on Screen – the UK’s premier dance film festival – is your opportunity to see the best in dance film, and join a forum for new and established artists to express and share their vision. The Dance on Screen festival was established in 1995, in response to a growing trend for dance artists to create work for film, and for filmmakers to experiment with movement. The festival has grown in size as the artform has flourished. In 2004 Dance on Screen presented over 50 short and feature-length films from around the world, alongside talks and a masterclass. We took a break in 2005, and are looking forward to an exciting festival this year.

V1B3 Summer06
DEADLINE : July 7th 2006

V1B3 is requesting submissions of short videos* that in the broadest terms possible, explore public space though human interaction, intervention and the mechanisms that influence and control the experience of the city.

V1B3 is an international curatorial project that aims to present video art that responds to the conditions of site specificity and a public viewer-ship. Urban planners and architects are used to shaping cities by means of infrastructure, zoning and buildings. However, other modes of intervention exist that are capable of influencing the development of a city. Communicative media interventions can transform public spaces.

V1B3 Summer06 will be presented in conjunction with the University Film and Video Association conference, sponsored by Chapman University in Orange, California. The US screening will occur during the UFVA conference [August 1ST-5th] in Orange, CA. The UK screening will be held at the London Study Center.
