FESTIVAL
cinematexas

Cinematexas International Short Film Festival is currently seeking submissions for this year's festival (September 20-24, 2006). The early deadline is May 5th, and the late deadline is June 2nd.

To enter you will need to include a VHS preview tape (NTSC or PAL, recorded in SP mode) or DVD clearly labeled with your name, film title and total running time, film stills (photographic prints or high resolution tiff or eps files), and on a seperate sheet include a brief synopsis of film entered, credits list, director's biography, and any other upcoming screenings.

Early entry fee is $35 if posted by May 5th, and $40 if posted June 2nd. Payment method: postal money order or check to Cinematexas International Film Festival.

The4thScreen: a global fest of art and innovation for mobile phones, New York

The4thScreen: a global festival of art & innovation for mobile phones launches today with a call for works. Ten awards of US $5,000 will be given to winning entries.

The4thScreen festival is the first event of its kind to focus on the mobile phone as an emerging social, cultural and technological phenomenon.

The festival was conceived by Tamas Banovich, curator and co-director of Postmasters Projects and Postmasters Gallery in New York:

"We are at the moment when everybody, from the media moguls to Vietnamese peasants - artists, hackers, activists, businesses and governments, are trying to grasp the impact, the power, of this new phenomenon.... trying to claim a part of it. There is still a lot of space for great ideas, to fulfill dreams and real needs. I hope the Festival will serve as a catalyst and influence this process..."

Artists, movie makers, designers, technologists, programmers, game designers and all creative thinkers are invited to submit their creations, inventions and revolutionary ideas in one of two categories:

Moving images- including videos, animations, and games made specifically for mobile delivery Wise technologies - including SMS based projects, sound, software art, software and hardware projects proposing new or extended use of mobile devices, applications that impact the life, the cultural, social and economical conditions of people living in diverse cultures. The mobile phone is at the center of a radical cultural, technological, and social shift. The4thScreen is a platform for those who are shaping the present and want to influence the future of this new medium, exchanging ideas over the boundaries of cultures, to participate in the global village.

The4thScreen festival'06 is produced by Postmasters Productions in partnership with the Museum of the Moving Image and Polytechnic University, New York.

PROPOSALS
Pixel Pops! in Prague
Deadline May 5, 2006


International exhibition in August 2006 in Prague, Czech Republic. This is an artist organized exhibition, coordinated by Natalia Vasquez(Miami, US), Michal Blazek (Prague, Czech Republic), and Joan Sanchez (Barcelona, Spain).

There are no fees to enter. This will be a juried show based on work submitted. We will arrange to display a variety of digital works. All work must show evidence of extensive computer manipulation or be otherwise highly digital.

Acceptable Formats:
---Web-based Works (No live Internet available for exhibit, all work should be self-contained. See information below.)
---Short Videos & Animations (1-3 minutes preferred, will accept up to 7 minutes)
---Interactive Works (Flash, Director, MaxMSP/Jitter)
Interactive works can be "recorded" and uploaded up to 10megabytes. Interactive works must have an additional auto-run mode.

SPACES Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio

SPACES, Northeast Ohio's artist-run, alternative gallery, is accepting applications for its 2006/07 season. We are seeking artitsts in all media, including digital, installation, and web art, as well as proposals for curated exhibitions. All themes are welcome, and three are highlighted for 2006-07: Artists collaborating with scientists to produce art along the lines of scientific experimentation and/or invention; artists working within the public realm/integrating art into civic projects and/or discourse; and artwork of an obvious tactile nature.

In addition, artists, including students, are eligible for the SPACELAb program, which focuses on smaller, experimental, timely exhibitions or installations. All selected artists and curators are paid honoraria.

Hull Film & Moving Image Commissions : Trailer, Hull, UK

Hull Film is generating an exciting opportunity for film makers/video artists to create a unique site-specific moving image work to be projected inside a shipping container located in the City of Hull.

TRAILERS is part of Illuminate the region's most ambitious cultural festival to date, hosted by Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York.

TRAILERS will consist of shipping containers placed around the City of Hull; all containing projected moving image works. The containers will be open to the public for the duration of the 5th Hull International Short Film Festival, which will take place from 27 September-01 October 2006.

Eyebeam, New York : Studio Technical Director

Eyebeam seeks a full time Production Studio Technical Director to work on artists' projects at its Chelsea, Manhattan studio. 2 years commercial CG TD experience with rigging, particles and MEL scripting in Maya, as well as programming knowledge in Java or C required. Video editing and advanced compositing knowledge a plus. Projects include computer graphic fine art, public art, data visualization, game art and new forms of media work that are exhibited internationally. Eyebeam works with range of artists, designs its own in house projects, and authors open source software for artists' tools. The organization encourages artists to apply and for employees to pursue their own creative projects.
