exhibition of contemporary painting

The John Moores competition produces Britain’s leading contemporary painting exhibition.
John Moores 24 coincides with the Liverpool Biennial and runs from 16 September to 26 November 2006 at the Walker Art Gallery. The competition is open to anyone, from the enthusiastic amateur to the top professional. There is a two stage entry procedure: first stage slide submission, second stage sending in of actual works. It is judged anonymously, purely on the merit of each individual work, without the identity of the artist being revealed to the jurors.
Jury - Conceptual artist Tracey Emin and the eminent Sir Peter Blake join former John Moores prizewinner Jason Brooks, curator of fine art at the Walker Art Gallery, Ann Bukantas and Director of Visual Arts at the British Council, Andrea Rose.

Job Description
The curator's core task is to be responsible for shaping the curatorial profile of KW's future by developing and implementing exhibitions over the course of three years. In addition to this the curator will also be involved in all of KW's other activities.
The requirements for application are:
- excellent knowledge of contemporary art and cultural practice
- experience in international organisations or projects focussing on contemporary art
- experience in the organisation of extensive exhibition projects
- excellent organisational, fundraising, communication and especially interpersonal skills
Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, February 28th, 2006 and must include an extended curriculum vitae as well as three letters of recommendation. The result of the selection procedure will be announced after a series of interviews in fall 2006.

The Videonale is a movie and video competition for amateurs and beginning professionals. The Pfeiffer e.V. organizes the Videonale for the eleventh time. With this competition, we would like, all offer the possibility of placing itself to an interested public. Are assigned:
The public price - The jury is the public. The audience will receive voting cards in the evening of the screening, to vote for the price of public.
The promotion price of the specialized jury - An independent jury, will appoint the winner of the promotion price. The Winner receives the possibility to work one day in a professional post production studio (AVID).

Description: Writings and submissions wanted for publication. Daily Constitutional is an artist run project consisting of the publication of a magazine in themed issues, the first of which was released December 2005 at the Miami Art Fairs. Daily Constitutional is currently seeking writing submissions for the second issue as well as writings that may span several issues. In addition Daily Constitutional is also accepting proposals for work made specifically for the publication. Proposals may be for a single issue or may span several issues utilizing the magazine’s interior or the back cover. In May 2006, the folks at Daily Constitutional will curate an exhibition from the material submitted for the Winter and Spring 2006 issues, regardless of whether or not it has been printed, at ADA Gallery in Richmond, VA. Work considered for the exhibition is not limited to one's text based work but will also include studio work. In order to be considered, please include images of studio work along with your submission material.

The ICA wishes to commission a live re-enactment by an artist or artists’ group from either a visual, live practice or media arts background.
Over the past eight years the ICA has commissioned a number of seminal re-enactment performances, from historic pop moments, eg Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard’s A Rock n’ Roll Suicide (on the 25th anniversary of Bowie’s ‘farewell to Ziggy Stardust’ show), to Rod Dickinson’s Jonestown re-enactment (2000) and Nocturn (2004), a reconstruction of the FBI’s psychological warfare assault at Waco.
We are looking for similarly interesting and unique moments to be re-enacted.
Submissions should include a one page proposal for the re-enactment, an outline of your career to date and any specific practical considerations.
This is a commission worth £10,000.
