|
Urban Culture Project : Paragraph Gallery, Kansas City, MO
Deadline : February 24, 2006
Urban Culture Project is seeking ambitious, committed, creative artists or arts professionals to be considered for a year-long Curatorial Residency at UCP’s Paragraph Gallery. This new Curatorial Residency will offer an exceptional individual or collaborative team the opportunity to curate/organize a year’s worth of programming (September 2006-June 2007) for this dynamic contemporary art venue in the heart of Downtown Kansas City.
The Curatorial Resident will be responsible for the creation and implementation of all programming for the gallery. It is expected that this programming will include an ongoing series of exhibitions (six to seven weeks long each), that will debut on Third Fridays and be open to the public during weekly gallery hours. Such exhibitions may include a mix of local, regional and national artists. Programming might also include live performances, multi-media events, gallery talks, etc. The Curatorial Resident will be encouraged to tap into/cultivate relationships with artists and curators from outside of Kansas City toward the generation of original programming.
Urban Culture Project encourages an innovative, multi-disciplinary curatorial approach. The Curatorial Residency will be awarded to an individual or collaborative team seriously interested in producing/presenting challenging, thoughtful, progressive, and polished contemporary art exhibitions and related programming. The opportunity is ideal for individuals aspiring to launch their own gallery or alternative space in the future, or who are embarking on a career in the curatorial field.

Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA)
Call for Entries for its "Confessions" exhibition
Deadline: February 22, 2006
Confession is often a reference to wrongdoing or the concept of “sin,” but in the broader context, confessions can be any revelation. We are looking for work that discloses or reveals something about the creator, or perhaps about the process of confessing. The "act" of confession allows one to examine something that has been hidden. We hide things because we feel ashamed or inadequate and this causes psychic blockage. By re-introducing them later in our lives we can re-examine experiences with maturity - hopefully to release them and the stress they cause.
Jurors Nancy Harlan and Pamela Grau Twena invite artists to submit work that might not be able to be shown anywhere else. The jurors are hoping to see work that speaks to the personal, to the artist and the act of creating and revealing. Orange County Center for Contemporary Art is devoted to the development and exploration of ideas in contemporary art in an atmosphere that promotes experimentation and risk-taking, without censorship.
Exhibition dates: April 1 through 30, 2006.
Deadline: Entries are due February 22, 2006
Jurors: Nancy Harlan and Pamela Grau Tweena.
The exhibition is open to all artists in all media
