Commission at Welsh Assembly Government Building,
Wales Deadline for Applications 17th April,
2009The new Welsh Assembly Government
building at Narrow Lane, Llandudno Junction in Conwy is under
construction. This is a major new building for North Wales and
presents an exciting opportunity for an artist to become
involved in its visual impact. The commission is for an
artist/s to create a permanent artwork that is 'available' to
the public outside the building in the public realm. The
architects are Austin Smith Lord. The building has a very
distinctive 'three fingered' design arranged on three floors
radiating out of the hillside. Read
On Fountain Street Public Artwork Design
Contest, Belfast Deadline 20th April,
2009Central Procurement Directorate on
behalf of its client DSD, Belfast City Centre Regeneration
Directorate wishes to commission an outstanding artist to
design, and arrange the production, delivery and installation
of a major piece of public art to be located in Fountain
Street, as part of the Belfast Streets Ahead project. (A major
public realm scheme currently being executed throughout the
city centre). The commission is to create a permanent
contemporary landmark as an integrated part of the
refurbishment of Fountain Street area. Read

PooL Art Fair, 1st
Edition in Chicago Deadline : April 4,
2009Frere Independent is now reviewing
artists works for it upcoming edition of the PooL Art Fair in
Chicago. Following 6 successful editions in New York, PooL Art
Fair in Chicago will present 25 to 50 Artists that do not have
gallery representation. Focusing largely on artists that do
not have representation in art galleries, the fair's main goal
is to create a meeting ground for artists, art dealers and
curators with the purpose of advancing the career of the

Abraaj Capital Art
Prize 2010 Deadline: 30 April
2009Recognized curators from any
nationality are invited to submit one or more proposals for
solo exhibitions with artists currently working in the Middle
East, North Africa or South Asia. Three submissions will be
selected for the Abraaj Capital Art Prize and each of these
will receive $200,000 to cover production and installation
costs, catalogue, shipping and travel for both curator and
artist. Included in the budget will be a fixed fee of $15,000

APRIL 15, 2009ASPECT: The Chronicle of New
Media Art, a biannual DVD publication, is currently accepting
submissions of work for Volume 14: Middle East. From ancient
times to the contemporary moment, this region is a crucible of
cultural, religious, economic, political and strategic import.
We seek new media work focused on any aspect of this sensitive
region, and are specifically interested in work generated in
the Middle East, but will consider all work focused on the
topic. We will review installation, video, performance, sound,

Summer Residency 2009:
BERLIN - MFA in New Media, Transart
Institute Deadline for scholarships May 1,
2009Transart Institute announces that six
scholarships of USD 12,000 each are available to students from
Eastern Europe and developing countries and four scholarships
of 3,000 USD each are available to students from anywhere to
participate in the international MFA program. Transart
Institute is a student-centered, self-directed MFA program,
uniquely located in Europe offering an accredited two year
low-residency course for working artists, teachers and all
professionals in related fields who are seeking advancement in

Takt Kunstprojektraum,
BerlinTakt Kunstprojektraum is an
autonomous iniative started by artists in 2003. It runs
without any external funding. Since 2007 the residency has
become the central element of the project. 10 rooms are set up
as an Artist Residency program, designed to host active
artists visiting Berlin. The live/work rooms are the core

CIANT LAB
2009 Arts Research Residencies, Prague, Czech
Republic Deadline : 3rd April
2009Artists are offered a media laboratory
space, a payment of 1000 EUR per month and access to lab
equipment and technical support. The emphasis for this
residency is on collaborative research and development in the
field of networked/distributed performance. - Presently, two
positions are on offer: A. Area of 3D modeling (3ds MAX),
avatar creation and integration with motion capture systems
driven virtual environments, B. Area of interactive sound
creation (max/MSP, PD, etc.). Read On
Artist in
Residence 2009, S1 Artspace, Sheffield, UK Deadline:
12th May 2008 This summer S1 Artspace will
host its forth artist residency from 24th July - 27th
September 2009. The residency will be followed by a solo
exhibition in October / November 2009. The residency is
supported by a £1,500 production fee, a £500 travel budget and
accommodation in Sheffield. Previous Artists in Residence
include Pil and Galia Kollectiv (2008) George Henry Longly
(2007) and James Pyman (2006). Read

Turin, Italy Deadline : 23 May
2009Diogene_urbanbivouac is a uniquely
structured residency programme set up by the Turin-based
artist group 'Diogene'. Directed at artists from all over the
world, the programme aims to encourage and develop a new depth
of artistic practice, intensifying the role of the artist
within society by developing a dialogue among the artists
themselves and focusing attention on the poetics of their
