The Daiwa Foundation Art Prize is an original project that offers a British artist a first solo show in Japan. In addition to an exhibition, the winning artist will be given a period of support and introductions to key individuals and organisations in the Japanese contemporary art world. Ruthin Craft Centre, in partnership with Safle invite artists to apply for a 3-month residency based at the new Ruthin Craft Centre, to research and take forward their practice in any discipline related to applied arts.
These projects are initiated within the new Stiwdio Safle programme and focus in particular on the application of the arts in the public realm. Initially two opportunities are offered for residencies to begin in November 2008 and January 2009.

Artist-run Land Art Project, The Pyrenees, France

Applications are invited from sculptors working with natural or found objects to participate in an artist-run land art project in the Pyrenees in the south of France.
The aim of the residency is to create a piece, or series of pieces, of permanent (or semi-permanent) land art which will remain on the site at the end of the residency. This opportunity would suit a recent graduate.
