5th edition of ARTE LAGUNA PRIZE

Sections: painting, sculpture, photographic art, video art and performing art

The fifth edition reaches a total of 100.000 euro and expands opportunities for artists as institutional prizes 5.000 euro each, as well as the attention for the artistic education offering 4 residences of art and creating fruitful collaborations between creativity and entrepreneurship with the Business for Art “ReiL” Prize that offers a stay in Brazil to create a site specific project.

The Arte Laguna Prize also allows a direct connection in the art market with its circuit of international galleries and the participation in international festivals such as “Open” in Venice and “Tina B” in Prague.

• New sections: Video Art and Performing Arts

The attention to the many forms of expression of the visual arts is one of the fundamental feature of the International Art Prize Arte Laguna. The fifth edition of the prize presents an important news is the creation of two new sections dedicated to video art and performance, more expressive forms used by artists in recent years, and widely acclaimed by critics and audiences.

• The Institutional Prizes and Collective Exhibition

Venice Arsenale Collective Exhibition of the 110 finalist Artists

These are the Prizes for the first place winner in each section:

PRIZE Painting: 5.000,00 euro / £ 4386

PRIZE Sculpture: 5.000,00 euro / £ 4386

PRIZE Photographic Art: 5.000,00 euro / £ 4386

PRIZE Videoart: 5.000,00 euro / £ 4386

PRIZE Performance: 5.000,00 euro / £ 4386

The works of all 110 finalist artists will host in the Collective exhibition in the Venice Arsenale in March 2011 and for the artists Under 25 the Prize offers another exhibition opportunity in the Correr Palace in Venice in March 2011.

• Business For Art

In this edition it was created the Special Prize "ReiL" sponsored by ReiL Firm partner of Arte Laguna, which offers to an artist, selected among all the participants in the painting and sculpture sections, a thirty-day stay in Brazil to create a site specific project in one of the residential houses of Bahia.

The prize consists of:

- a residence period of 30 days in a resort in Bahia

- the possibility to create an art project in one of the residences of the Resort

- flight and accommodation paid

- assistance and materials provided by Reil

- photographic reportage as proof of the work done

• Artist in Residences

The new Artist in Residence at the Murano Glass School

These Special Prizes give the possibility to participate in an artist's residence or to attend events in Italy and abroad, dealing with business realities outside the art world, as the growth of their artistic experience as well as their professional development. Arte Laguna continues in this way to support emerging talents not only in a economic way, but also accompanying the education and development of their creativity.
