Swab Barcelona 2012!
Swab
Barcelona 2012, International Contemporary Art Fair
presents its fifth edition that will take place between
23rd and 26th May 2012. The aim of SWAB
Barcelona is to offer an insight into the latest trends
in contemporary art through a careful selection of the
exhibiting galleries.
The galleries
participating in SWAB Barcelona are a benchmark for the
emerging art: contemporary art by young artists, most of them
born since the 70's. This type of art, which you hardly find
in museums, has its place of expression in the galleries. Swab
Barcelona 2012 intends to have more participation than ever,
up to 70 galleries from 18 countries and ads to its agenda new
activities within and outside the fair.

Furthermore, SWAB
Barcelona wants to continue with the initiative of
MYFAF (My First Art Fair), a space for 4
galleries with less than two years of experience who will be
selected by our committee and will have the opportunity to
participate in its first International Art Fair without any
cost.
Moreover, Swab
Barcelona will present again its Collectors
Program that will include exclusive visits to private
collections in the city as well as a selection of interesting
activities, trying to strengthen the relationship between
collectors and gallery owners.
In addition, Swab
Barcelona will have its usual Swab Drawing
Prize, and will present two new awards, a prize for
the Best Gallery of Swab Barcelona 2012 by
Banco Sabadell Foundation and an award for a
Young Artist of Swab 2012. To give more
emphasis to this award, Swab has also created Talking
Artists a program based on the presentation of 10
young artists (born after 1980) from the galleries in Swab
Barcelona 2012 that will be selected by five young curators.
These artists will participate in several debates, talking
about both their work and the emergent contemporary art
today.
