Stellan Holm Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition Robert Rauschenberg: Transfer Drawings 1958-1969. The exhibition will be open to the public on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
Robert Rauschenberg began his series of Transfer Drawings in 1958 and it marked a significant shift in his work up to date. Until this time Rauschenberg was recognized for his three dimensional works rather than works on paper. In this series, he employs imagery and materials such as newspaper and magazine clippings to document and comment on the political and cultural happenings of this tumultuous time in American history.
