Art Agents Gallery Hamburg
Im September 2000 eröffnen Julia Sökeland und Nasim Weiler die art agents gallery in Hamburg, um einen Ort für den lebendigen Austausch mit internationaler zeitgenössischer Kunst zu etablieren. Zunächst stehen themenbezogene Projekte und Gruppenausstellungen im Vordergrund. Seit dem Umzug in die Phoenixwerke in Hamburg-Harburg 2004 konzentriert sich das Programm auf Einzelausstellungen mit den Künstlern der Galerie sowie auf die Verwaltung des Nachlasses von Anna Oppermann.
art agents gallery interessiert sich für zeitgemäße Äußerungen zum Medienalltag und zu wesentlichen Aspekten individueller Existenz in Gesellschaft und Kultur. Viele der Künstler und Künstlerinnen nutzten verschiedene Medien gleichzeitig. Einblicke in die Abgründe des Alltags stehen dabei neben Erforschungen der Grenzbereiche zwischen Realität und Fiktion und eher konzeptuell orientierten Positionen.
art agents gallery nimmt an internationalen Kunstmessen z.B. artforum Berlin, artissima Turino, Volta Basel, Volta NY, Next Chicago, Loop Barcelona, Art Cologne teil.
The art agents gallery was founded in Hamburg in 2000 by Julia Sökeland and Nasim Weiler. The focus of the gallery is on international contemporary art. Both gallerists wish to establish a space where a lively dialogue about contemporary art occurs. The gallery’s first years were characterized by theme-related projects and group shows. Following the move to the Phoenixwerke in Hamburg-Harburg in 2004, the programme has shifted more towards solo shows of gallery artists and the administration of the Estate of Anna Oppermann.
art agents gallery is interested in contemporary expression on both the everyday media and on the fundamental aspects of individual existence in society and culture. Many of the artists do not restrict themselves to working in a single media. Insights into the depths of everyday life, explorations of the border zone between reality and fiction, and more conceptually oriented positions all stand side-by-side.
art agents gallery has taken part in various international mart fairs, such as artforum Berlin, artissima Turino, Volta Basel, Volta NY, Next Chicago,Loop Barcelona, Art Cologne.
