Baker's Dozen is an annual survey exhibition of 13 artists who reflect the zeitgeist of current Los Angeles contemporary art practice. Made up mostly of sculpture, this exhibition brings together artists from
Artists: Yorgo Alexopoulos, Juan Capistran, Walpa D’Mark, Daniel Dove, Brian Getnick, Gustavo Godoy, Hannah Greely, Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor, Kori Newkirk, Joshua Podoll, Ry Rocklen, Analia Saban, and Jill Spector.
Exhibition essays in the catalog by Andrew Berardini, Shana Nys Dambrot, Jan Tumlir, and Calvin Phelps.
NEW GALLERY: VideoRow Inaugural Artist: David Snyder
David Snyder, a recent graduate from UCLA's Graduate Fine Arts Program, received his B.A. from Bard College in NY in 2002. Since graduating from Bard, Snyder has participated in numerous group shows in New York and Los Angeles. In 2010, Snyder received the prestigious Toby Award. On Sept 18th, TAM will feature Snyder's project as the first video exhibition for VideoRow.
About VideoRow: The Torrance Art Museum has designated a new space to feature an ongoing series of video exhibitions. Recognizing the importance of the moving image in contemporary art, these exhibitions will focus on emerging and established artists working in a range of video and film genres: animation, short films, documentaries, and performance art to name a few.
Admission to the museum is always free. Regular hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 - 5 pm. The Torrance Art Museum is a program of the Cultural Services Division, Community Services Dept. of the City of Torrance.
