OC-EO ART PRESENT ‘RISING STARS FROM CHINA AND VIETNAM’ AT INAUGURAL BEIJING ART SALON
CHINA WORLD TRADE CENTRE, EXHIBITION HALL 1, BOOTH 5, TUESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER– SATURDAY 4TH OCTOBER
Beijing, 1st October 2008 – Peter Quintana and the Partners of Oc-Eo Art, a fine art company specialising in contemporary and modern Asian art, opened their first exhibition outside UK yesterday at the inaugural Beijing Art Salon, opened by the Mayor of Beijing at 10am Beijing time.
Entitled ‘Rising Stars’, the exhibition presents two young Asian artists who’s reputations are already rising rapidly both domestically and internationally. He Hong Wei, born 1971 in Inner Mongolia, and the older by just 5 years, has already built a substantial reputation in China for both his works on paper and his oils, and was recently introduced to London by Oc-Eo Art at a solo show, ‘Hometown’ at Gallery 27 in Cork Street. Phan Thanh Minh, born 1976 in Hoi An, Vietnam, graduated only last year, but is already demonstrating an extraordinary maturity in both his use of colour and composition.
Quintana said ‘Both Minh and Hong Wei show extraordinary talent and maturity given their age. They are alike in their willingness to take risks with colour and composition; they paint from their hearts but think deeply about what they want to say; and most importantly they are treading their own path and not willing to take the easy routes open to them by jumping on the prevailing fashion bandwagons that so many of the other young artists I see, especially in China, have done.’
Beijing Art Salon features exhibitors from China, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic, as well as Oc-Eo Art representing the United Kingdom. The exhibition will be held in the Exhibition Hall of China World Trade Centre, 1 Jian Guo Men Wai Avenue, Beijing, and is open 9.30-5.30 until October 4th.
