On the occasion of the "Quartier des Bains" common opening night in Geneva, Stéphanie Cramer and Edward Mitterrand are glad to announce an exhibition by the Franco-Israeli artist and designer Arik Levy.
This is, for Mitterrand+Cramer, the fifth chapter of a series of exhibitions dedicated to some of the most prominent contemporary designers.
As it was already the case for the four previous shows, this one includes new works produced for and by Mitterrand+Cramer under the title "Geotectonic".
After Rock and Absent Nature this new exhibition stays in the continuity of the "natural non-natural". The investigation, imaginary and interpretation of these problematics, grow, this time, around the concepts of "parallel" and "opposed".
By presenting the concretization of these ideas for the very first time, the exhibition illustrates various forms of expression related to geotectonic .... Arik's perception of such levels is not only geological, but also emotional, visual, social, architectural, as well as urban and genetic.
"What I feel and see are complete images of objects, buildings, mountain splitting into layers the same way an iceberg will detach from the North Pole creaking open and starting drifting in the space. Each element slides over the other in perfect harmony of total chaos. Construct to deconstruct, built to destroy, and constantly being on the borderline between balance and in balance, stability and catastrophe, magic and power." tells us Levy.
These works represent a kind of “X-ray” of a fraction in the trail of transition of these masses in space, masses which float without any signs of movement.
This visual expression will maintain an unwritten formula that can be applied on any moment and environment around us. Surfaces are with no beginning and no end slicing them selves in to uneven sections and commencing the lateral slid.
This exhibition will also retrace a portion of Arik Levy's career by the installation of a series of works from which some, as the Rock series, have become iconic of his work.
Hence, Geotectonic is a new opportunity for Arik Levy to demonstrate the multidisciplinary aspect of his talent which is expressed through his films, his sculptures, his photographs, his objects, .... and make him a true creator.
Arik Levy is represented by many galleries around the globe and his creations have entered some of the world's most prestigious museums such as the Centre Pompidou, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, the MoMA in NY and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

A l'occasion des vernissages communs du QDB, Stéphanie Cramer et Edward Mitterrand sont heureux d'annoncer une exposition d’Arik Levy.
Il s'agit, pour Mitterrand-Cramer, du cinquième volet d'une série d'événements dédiés aux grands créateurs contemporains.
Comme les quatre précédentes expositions celle-ci comprend de toutes nouvelles pièces produites par et pour Mitterrand+Cramer et regroupées sous le titre "Geotectonic".
Après Rock et Absent Nature cette nouvelle exposition reste dans la continuité du « naturel non-naturel ». L’investigation, l’imaginaire et l’interprétation de ces problématiques, se développent, cette fois, autour des concepts de « parallèle » et « opposé ».
En présentant la concrétisation de ces idées pour la toute première fois, l’exposition illustre différentes formes d’expression liées aux niveaux géotectoniques….la perception qu’Arik Levy a de ces niveaux n’est pas seulement géologique, mais aussi émotionnelle, visuelle, sociale, architecturale, ainsi qu’urbaine et génétique.
« Ce que je ressens et je vois ce sont des images intègres d’objets, d’édifices, de montagnes se fendre en strates tout comme un iceberg qui se détache avec fracas du Pole Nord, pour ensuite partir à la dérive dans l’espace. Chaque élément glisse sur l’autre dans la parfaite harmonie d’un chaos total. Construire pour ensuite déconstruire, bâtir pour ensuite détruire et se retrouver sans arrêt à la limite entre équilibre et déséquilibre, stabilité et catastrophe, magie et pouvoir. » nous dit Levy.
Ces œuvres représentent une sorte de radiographie d’une fraction du parcours et de la transition des ces masses dans l’espace, masses qui flottent sans vraiment se déplacer.
Cette expression visuelle donnera lieu à une sorte de formule inédite qui pourra s’appliquer à tout instant et à tout environnement autour de nous. Les surfaces n’ont pas de début, ni de fin, elles se découpent en tranches irrégulières et s’engagent en un mouvement glissant latéral.
Cette exposition retracera également une partie du parcours d'Arik Levy par l'installation d'une série de pièces dont certaines, comme les "Rocks", sont devenus iconiques de son travail.
Geotectonic est donc une nouvelle occasion pour Arik Levy de démontrer la multidisciplinarité de son talent qui s'exprime à travers ses films, ses sculptures, ses peintures, ses photos, ses objets, ... et qui font de lui un créateur au sens large du terme.
Arik Levy est représenté par de nombreuses galeries dans le monde et ses créations sont entrées dans certains des musées les plus prestigieux du monde comme le Centre Pompidou, le Victoria & Albert Museum, le Chicago Art Institute ou encore le MoMA à NY et le Israël Museum à Jérusalem.
