La exposición presentada en Vacío 9 es de formas puras y conceptos tajantes. Objetos, instalaciones y dibujos se entremezclan en una exposición acromática. En blanco y negro, su dureza estética contrasta con los juegos que propone. Chance significa a la vez oportunidad (castellano lat. e inglés) y suerte (francés). La búsqueda desemboca en lo aleatorio, el infinito. Las posibilidades ofrecidas evocan el destino, sus variantes e interpretaciones.
¨Yo me atrevo a insinuar esta solución del antiguo problema: La biblioteca es ilimitada y periódica. Si un eterno viajero la atravesara en cualquier dirección, comprobaría al cabo de los siglos que los mismos volúmenes se repiten en el mismo desorden (que repetido, seria un orden: el Orden). Mi soledad se alegra con esa elegante esperanza.¨

1 entre 2exp399 es lo inmenso en lo pequeño, una búsqueda de proporciones cósmicas y una pérdida fácil.
Acuarela, un dibujo binario eternamente cambiante. Su forma cilíndrica huye de los limites y propone un código de combinaciones aleatorias.
Metrónomo es una pieza sonora que analiza los movimientos del tráfico de la ciudad de Madrid. Los datos han sido transformados en ritmos, estas pulsiones representan cantidades de coches en movimiento, reduciendo a una hora todas las fluctuaciones de una semana.
Chance es un tentar. Un teléfono móvil y un anuncio en los periódicos componen esta pieza cuya fuerza reside en el deseo proveniente del exterior.
Cajas son agrupaciones de dibujos de encuentros, donde el espectador puede elegir el cambio pero no cual ver.
Biblioteca es una videoproyección generada por ordenador de un panel infinito de estación. Propone un destino incomprensible con combinaciones de letras al azar.

Clara Montoya (1974, Madrid) vivió ocho años en Londres (hasta 2005) donde estudió becada en el Chelsea College of Art y el Royal College of Art. Disfrutó de una residencia en Cooper Union, Nueva York y residió en la Cité des Arts en Paris. Mantiene, además de Londres, fuertes contactos con Bélgica y Francia donde fueron sus dos últimas individuales en 2006. Entre otros tiene piezas en el CAC Malaga, Colección Madeira y Somi & Tuus de Korea. Próximamente se podrán ver sus piezas en la colectiva Planes Futuros (Pamplona) comisariada por Maria y Lorena de Corral y en NADA Art Fair, Miami con Vacío 9.
Clara Montoya : Chance
The exhibition displayed in Vacio 9 involves pure forms and sharp concepts. Objects, installations, and drawings intertwine in an achromatic display. In black and white, its aesthetic hardness stands in contrast to the games it suggests. Chance means both opportunity (Spanish lat. and English) and luck (French). The search opens into randomness, infinity. The possibilities offered evoke destiny, its variations and interpretations.

1 between 2exp399 (1 entre 2exp399) is immensity in smallness, a search of cosmic proportions and an easy surrender. Watercolour (Acuarela) is a forever changing, binary drawing. Its cylindrical shape escapes limitations and proposes a code of random combinations. Metronome (Metrónomo) is a sound piece that analyzes movement and traffic in the city of Madrid. es una pieza sonora que analiza los movimientos del tráfico de la ciudad de Madrid. The data has been transformed into rhythms. These pulsations represent the amount of cars in movement, reducing all the fluctuations in a week to an hour. Chance (Chance) is a probing. A mobile phone and a newspaper advertisement compose this piece, whose strength resides in the desire that comes from the outside. Boxes (Cajas) are groupings of sketches of encounters, where the spectator can choose to switch but not which to see. Library (Biblioteca) is a computer-generated, video projection of the notice board of a station. It offers an incomprehensible fate with random letter combinations.

Clara Montoya (Madrid, 1974) lived in London for eight years (until 2005) with a scholarship for the Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art. She was also a resident at Cooper Union, New York, and the Cité des Arts, in Paris. In addition to London, she maintains strong contact with Belgium and France, where her latest individual exhibitions were held in 2006. Pieces of her work are held by the CAC Malaga, Colección Madeira and Somi & Tuus in Korea. Her work will be included in the forthcoming collective exhibition, Planes Futuros (Pamplona) curated by Maria y Lorena de Corral and in NADA Art Fair, Miami with Vacío 9.
