The exhibition, curated by Lisa Melandri, Deputy Director of the Santa Monica Museum of Art, features more than 60 members of Otis’ faculty. According to Melandri, the exhibition is like a “multifaceted fabric interwoven with markedly different aesthetic, theoretical, and functional threads.” Represented in the exhibition are painting, architecture, graphic design, fashion design, new media, printmaking, sculpture, animation, public art, poetry, artists’ books, ceramics, photography, music, and digital art.
Otis celebrates its faculty on the occasion of its 90th anniversary in 2008. During its 90-year history, Otis faculty members have taught and mentored generations of artists and designers to enrich our society and culture. Many of these alumni and Otis faculty have launched seminal movements in contemporary art.

Otis prepares diverse students of art and design to enrich our world through their creativity, their skill, and their vision. The College offers an interdisciplinary education for 1170 full-time students, awarding BFA degrees in advertising, architecture/landscape/interiors, digital media, fashion design, graphic design, illustration, interactive product design, painting, photography, sculpture/new genres, and toy design; and MFA degrees in fine arts, graphic design, public practice, and writing. Continuing Education offers certificate programs as well as personal and professional development courses.
For nine decades, Otis alumni have demonstrated their ability to successfully compete in a global environment increasingly built on innovation and creative thinking. Since its establishment in 1918 as Los Angeles’ first independent professional school of art and design, Otis has trained generations of artists who have been in the vanguard of the cultural and entrepreneurial life of the city. Nurtured by Los Angeles’ forward-thinking spirit, the College has produced artists who explore the landscape of popular culture and the significant impact of identity, politics and social policy at the intersection of art and society.
