It's A Small World
December 12th, 2008 - January 4th, 2009
Opening Reception:
Friday December 12th 6:30-10pm

These days, everything from cars to ipods to ice-caps to the economy seems to be shrinking, and Like the Spice likes to keep with the times. That's why we'd like to invite you to this holiday- season showcase, a pocket-sized winter wonderland of teeny- tiny treasures.

This group show is our stocking-stuffer holiday gift to the world, and Like the Spice will be full of pieces measured not in length or width, but depth. With all of the works around or under 11" by 17", It's A Small World Ranges from the abstract, lusciously colorful squares of Nicole Stager to the focused conglomerate menagerie of Abby Goodman. Also in the show will be a number of limited edition prints from artists like Mike Turzanski and Chadwick Whitehead.

Maybe the days of living-large are winding down (for a while, at least) but that's no reason to give up on art. Like haiku, our small show invites the artist to find the heart of their work, leaving nothing but meaning and beauty. Featured artists will include Rachel Beach, Undine Brod, Liz Brown, Allison Edge, Sean Flannigan, Abby Goodman, Barry Hazard, Brian LaRossa, Andrew Neyer, Ross Racine, Masha Ryskin, Nicole Stager, Steven Tabbutt, Mike Turzanski, Jon Vermilyea, and Chadwick Whitehead.

Hold Me Closer Tiny Dinner:
Artist's Cocktail Party

December 19th, 8pm - Reservations Required

Dinner? Are you crazy? We just got back from Miami! Who has time for dinner? Well, maybe a little one. Like the Spice continues the Monthly DInner Series with Hold Me Closer Tiny Dinner, a very special cocktail party to celebrate our current group show, It's A Small World. But that's not all!

This month, we'll be taking a look at the very best from our week in ArtBasil in a special downstairs show. After you enjoy the little things in life on our main floor, you'll be able to see some fantastic larger pieces from artists such as Liz Brown, Allison Edge, Abby Goodman, Eric LoPresti, and more. We're sure you'll agree that this is worth enduring finger food.

As always, the party will be in the gallery itself. Our dinner series is designed to let you enjoy a night out and a thoughtful conversation with friends and strangers. Let yourself be inspired together by the beautiful work covering our walls. And as our holiday gift to you, all we want is an RSVP! There's no charge to walk in the door! The party starts at 8:00pm, so be sure you're on time. Fa la la la la, la la la la.
