Galerie Stefan Roepke is pleased to present ZWISCHEN, a group exhibition featuring works from Aleksandar Duravcevic, Lorenz Estermann, Jason Gringler, Isa Lorenzo, Artemis Louis, and John Monteith.
The show takes its cue from a special period of time when one year ends and another begins. And although, in practical terms, we are just going from one day to the next just like any other day, this particular change seems to have a strong effect on us. More than just a change of calendar, we reassess the past year, make plans for the one ahead of us, and celebrate the next day with greater expectation because it is a New Year.
This sense of ZWISCHEN is very much a part of the mindset of every artist presented in this exhibition, but each in their unique way, stylistically and conceptually, reflecting their international diversity. Drawing from their personal experiences and their daily lives and surroundings, issues that relate to history, memory, identity, and choice are addressed.
