Strange Reflections and the Lounge unites five artistic positions and focuses on Italian art. The exhibition comprises classical documentary photographs by Mario Giacomelli, as well as established contributions to avant-garde art by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Mimmo Rotella. Flavio Favelli and Thorsten Passfeld, the German artist, belong to the generation of young artists. The exhibition features many facets of reflections on everyday life and the environment. Just like the other artists and their viewpoints, Thorsten Passfeld (born at Dinslaken in 1975) also defines his concept of art in the context of everyday life. His artistic “reflection” is based on transforming everyday objects into sculptures and/or installations. For example, he specifically fitted wooden huts into gallery premises. Passfeld reconstructed a kind of aircraft missile defense station for the Vienna exhibition.
Strange Reflections and the Lounge vereint fuenf kuenstlerische Positionen mit dem Schwerpunkt auf italienischer Kunst. Darunter finden sich klassische Dokumentarfotografien von Mario Giacomelli sowie etablierte Beitraege zur Avantgardekunst von Michelangelo Pistoletto und Mimmo Rotella. Flavio Favelli und der deutsche Kuenstler Thorsten Passfeld zaehlen zur jungen Kuenstlergeneration. Facettenreiche Reflexionen von Alltag und Umwelt. Wie auch bei den kuenstlerischen Positionen zuvor definiert Thorsten Passfeld (geb. Dinslaken 1975) seinen Kunstbegriff im Kontext des Alltags. Seine kuenstlerische „Reflexion“ basiert auf der skulptural-installativen Transformation von Gebrauchsgegenstaenden. So hat er eigens Holzhuetten in Galerieraeume eingebaut. Fuer Wien hat Passfeld eine Art Fliegerabwehrraketenstation rekonstruiert.
