Examples of acts of folly: Photographing the planet Mars with a low resolution digital camera when it was closet to the earth for 67 million years. Recreations of existing notice boards and all literature, except information is rendered unreadable by computer. Creation of a hidden 30m mirrored sign in woodland celebrating the year 2004AD using a 1960's typeface designed for the 21st century space age. Use of 10,000 polished pennies as reflective floor sculpture sited on a street corner as items of luck. Coins removed within 20 minutes of completion. Creation of a series of enlarge fragments of shopping lists, notes and print, using fine art techniques to repeat stains, rips and hand written texts.

Proposal for the Withewood Sports Field
|
The creation of objects and images as a result of 'an act of folly' is central to my practice. Currently I am interested in making work that is hidden or outside normal modes of presentation where the artwork is shown 'for the viewer'. I term this process as 'non-visual' and so work is embedded in an environment and may only be witnessed by a few, if any, people.

Work is a response to a given situation and an articulation of the parameters of the event. I am interested in the use of language and the placement of objects as forms of conditioning and how society is controlled through associates from implied memories and modes of understanding.
