The invitation to consume, the seduction of the spectator, the awakening of the senses through desire, and absorption are the starting points of my ideas. Previously, I had only looked at the possibilities of painting in its narrative and representative state. Nevertheless, thanks to the combination of multiple factors, this has changed. The materiality of pigment and the vehicle utilized are now the enchanting protagonists. In this way, painting causes the desire to obtain something more than mere contemplation. The consumption is like ingestion; therefore I seek to cause the desire of absorption in the spectator (a priori one must desire).

My paintings are like objects that invite to be tasted, savored and/or touched. The referents to their materiality are desserts and candies utilizing industrial materials, like polyurethane and enamel, in combination with natural pigments and synthetic resins for oil, creating the illusion that the pictorial surface be freshly done or wet, causing a tempting sensation.
In the pieces "Narcicismo Pictórico" (2005) and "VerdeVelvet" (2005), the spectator can see herself/himself reflected in the painting, so that the work in itself becomes the one who "observes" the spectator. Metaphorically speaking, the spectator consumes the painting the same way the painting consumes the spectator.

On the other hand, the utilization of modules in the paintings offers me the opportunity to work from a whole to a specific and individual space. I relate painting with a point of collective pleasure, just as the space that exists in the dish in which the desserts are served. Even though this dish is - first of all - an intimate space, it has the possibility of becoming a collective one.

In this manner, as a whole, the modules create an individual zone that permits the spectator the opportunity to select and participate with the piece... just like in a buffet.
