Solo-exhibition

New Paintings by Valery Koroshilov in Baker Tilly, London 2010

More than thirty figurative oil paintings by Valery Koroshilov including the most recent work will be shown in the heart of Bloomsbury in London, at the solo-exhibition in Baker Tilly. On show there are pictures that are based on reality, but depicting this reality with a certain degree of abstraction.

Valery Koroshilov explains his approach: “The storytelling aspect of these pictures is less important for me, than their formal or compositional qualities, such as pure colour, hyper-scale, high viewpoint, juxtaposition of textures, and the overall structure of the pictorial space. The narration, which is at the heart of the traditional figurative approach, concerns here only an indication of a certain attitude to the human emotion, which the objects and the figures express with a greater or lesser degree. Furthermore, I consider all these paintings the fragments of one continuous narration.”

Award-winning figurative painter based in London and exhibiting internationally, Valery Koroshilov (b.1961) works primarily in oil, and focuses on corporate and private commissions. The artist’s practice spans across a wide variety of media and genres, which include Human Figure, Portrait, Homage to Old Masters, Still Life, and Decorative Compositions.

Just a block away from the British Museum, the Gallery space on the top floor of the Baker Tilly Headquarters hosts the works of the artist for the second time. The first solo-exhibition took place in 2002, and generated a lot of interest to the artist’s style and subject matter. Some pictures had been also acquired by the organizers for the Baker Tilly Corporate Art Collection, which includes an impressive body of paintings and sculptures by contemporary British and international artists.

The exhibition is curated by Michelle Buckley. Baker Tilly London is an independent member of Baker Tilly International.

The show opened on 25th February 2010, and will continue through  to 23rd April 2010.
