Statement
Sophie Littlewood’s practice resides within a sculptural context. She alters the usual identity and meaning of consumerist stuff through the process of synthesization. Uncanny, biomorphic-like apparatus are the result of this which adopt ideas and concerns linked to the relationship between living organisms and their environment.

Within the stages of making, the work evolves encouraging a sense of artificial procreation to unfold. Consequently, the objects metamorphose into surreal, absurd appearing assemblages with an intention to simultaneously invade and interact in space.

The grouping of work naturally develops into a theatrical arena, embracing informal as well as painterly sensibilities, and 'anti' connotations.
