Statement
Robert West explores the limits and possibilities of painting, aiming to reassert paintings relevancy within the art market and society. His work positions itself with process driven painting, whereby the artist has purposefully detached himself from the traditional methods of paint application and instead explores more mechanical processes to create work.
West implements painterly strategies that endorse the expansion of his own painting knowledge through the exploration of gesture, fracture and imprint. The painting plain offers seemingly infinite variations and discovering the potential of this plain is central to his artistic practice.

Debut Contemporary is founded by Samir Ceric, dubbed the “Kingmaker” by International Life Magazine of creative talent, he is the founder of Salon Contemporary, (including Artist of the Week, Curator of the Month and Best of British competitions), Wolf & Badger and First Wednesdays. Now he launches Debut Contemporary, having already discovered some of the big names of the new Young British Art movement in the past decade.
Debut Contemporary is a unique exhibiting and mentoring initiative showcasing, "the best of British creative talent across all art disciplines". Debut artists' work will be exhibited in Debut Contemporaries newly refurbished gallery as well as in other prominent off site locations.
