Fulfilled
Video still from “Fulfilled” 2007

This shop had been empty for more than a year when I filmed it. I chose a corner, did not touch anything and filmed 4 times of the day. This film was sped up and condensed to a 03:50 time-lapse that was back projected onto parts of the shops display window (that was covered with an opaque film). While walking past the shop you could see both the corner as it stood and the film slowly changing, it would change with the daylight and as the projector was placed at the floor it would create an horizon line light.

But the magician does not make an entrance. The decorative green plants in the flowerpot are the main focus for this piece. But they play no main part; they are just a setting, something you barely pick up while rushing past. The piece is placed on an existing flowerpot arrangement in the middle of the shopping street. The video only plays every 01:30 main and last for 30 sec.
By the use of moving lights and a drum roll that last too long I wish to amplify an everlasting feeling that surely something must happen, someone must arrive at this empty stage.
"Wish" 2007

The first or last lines of lyrics from famous Hollywood musicals and movies (Pinocchio, The Wizard of Oz, Annie etc.) are projected on the wall. Animated on in light 'tinkerbell' style. One each side is a piece of slit drape in silver, occasionally blowing in the wind. I want to put emphasis on the belief that is propagated in do much of today’s media; that if you just want it enough – it will come to you. This is placed in the middle of the empty shopping street 'Galleri Oslo', a building that a lot of people hoped would become a more dynamic and fulfilled place. In a world where more people than ever wants to work in media, entrainment industry, and the arts (and the borders between these areas blur) I question the possibility of success - and the romantic notion of hope.
