Artists statement

Through the use of video and film installation my practice aims principally at examining our globalized popular culture. Exploring the established systems and codes within society that lie behind the information, imagery and ideals that we are fed daily. In turn influencing how we construct and destruct the world around us. This forms the basis for my creative inquiry into themes of myth, personal/social practices and adopted identities.

My work often adopts a painterly quality. The repetition and slowness of the imagery allows the viewer to contemplate the visuals without overburdening it with post production effects. Although I perform in many of my films, I see performance as my material which I use to create these pieces, rather than an action that is merely being documented. More recent work has included a documentary element, giving a voice to silent zones.
