Kate Potter's THESE DAYS, her current body of work, has been shortlisted for the AOP Student Awards, 2006. Her first major solo exhibition entitled PORTRAIT at LOUNGE, October 2006 forms part of Paris/London Photomonth. THESE DAYS forms part of Kate Potter's MA in Photography at the London College of Communication and is an ongoing exploration into trauma and our visceral relationship with landscape.
THESE DAYS is a series of images which explore the psychological and physical processes of the aging parent. Potter photographs her father in a personal yet universal documentation of how the parent changes and how the child comes to terms with witnessing this metamorphosis.
By using montage, still life, landscape and portraiture, the viewer experiences everything the photographer has experienced. The parent here transcends from being a stranger to us, to becoming the viewer's parent, he represents the aging process, we identify with Potter's concerns, we are confronted with our own fears, we are reminded of our own fragility and the overwhelming love a child experiences for his/her parent.

Kate Potter has also explored the notions of trauma through landscape and performative portraiture.
However, Potter's soon to be exhibited series PORTRAIT, looks at conceptual ideas of portraiture and the process of photography itself. www.lounge-gallery.com for further information.
