My practice is expressed/explored through the composition of constructed hybrid objects,
working within the mediums of sculpture, photography and drawing to create work revolving around a unifying interest or narrative.
Fascination in a subject is triggered by a visual response which is expanded upon through research and investigation.
This evolves much like a rhizome - channelling in many diverse directions, drawing on academia, personal reflection and taking into account any wider social or cultural points of interest.
These findings are combined and reconfigured to inform the final resolved product.
Currently I am developing work in response to the intriguing anatomical and botanical models of Dr Auzoux [1797-1880], these make up part of the collection at The Whipple Museum of the History of Science at Cambridge University.
The working title for this new project is 'Strange Chimera'
The intention is to explore the significance of the objects not only as teaching aids of their time but also consider how they might make us feel today in the contemporary space of the museum.
