Janet Curley Cannon's art derives from observations of the incidental characteristics of the urban environment. She seeks out information built up on surfaces and structures which may reveal the social attitudes, political concerns and cultural trends of a place. Her interest is in the overlooked and the irrelevant, repeated patterns and structural elements, and especially the history accumulated in aged and forgotten areas on the brink of change.
