beauty through objects, imagery and interaction, exploring the mirroring of identity and consumption

Mirroculous, 2008.
Site-specific installation created for 'Cosume Peckham Arts Festival'. Consume Peckham invited artists to take on mini residencies and explore the area and the community in relation to their own practice. Helga Steppan was working together with ACE, Hair and Beauty Shop in Peckham, were she explored the shop window as a view between reality and the imagination, Steppan invites the audience to explore ideas of the two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Using the shop window to question concepts of beauty through object, imagery and interaction, exploring the mirroring of identity and consumption.

The Spare Room, 2007.
Site-specific Photographic Installation created for Steppan's Solo Show, Be long a part at Man&Eve.
A room created within a room, within a room, through exploring the meeting point of the two-dimensional photographs and the 3-dimensional parameters of the existing room. Photographs were taken in the room and then hanged to be re-photographed in the same room and later exhibited in the same space. Investigating the parameters of an existing space and our experience of it.

Rememorize, 2005.
Artist commission (photographic installation) for John Mattson Fastighets AB / Art.platform. Working with one of Sweden’s largest property companies creating an installation for the opening of their new building. With the idea of home, memories and removing/moving space, I placed various objects and furniture around the building for the viewer to interact with when walking through the building. Then to be meet by a large photograph, showing traces of passed times where the objects used to belong. Creating an interaction between the 3-d existing and the 2-d documented.

Anna Otto Bob, 2003.
Site-specific photographic installation. A series of three diptychs, that works as visual palindromes. These images were exhibited in the same space as they were photographed, creating a spacial palindrome. Each diptych is created by two original images, which are set up to mirror each other and the space itself. each image represent the other one and at the same time representing
the space.

Elsa & Ingeborg + Ingeborg & Elsa, 2008.
Two photographs taken of Ingeborg and Elsa in the same situation and environment with three years in between the images. The photographs shows traces of time passing and creates a meeting point of past and present through photography as a documentation media. Investigating how we choose to represent ourselves through constantly changing our environments of home and belongings, situating ourselves in a constant flux.
