Upside Down Buoy (concrete and rope)
Helen works with objects and various processes for particular projects. Objects include a piano, a car, and a collection of stones or things that float. The processes involve direct contact with the object, although it is always absent in the final result. These pieces become anthropomorphic metaphors that present a philosophical position on human presence. The work is essentially ‘still life’ – a ‘momento mori’, communicating through intensely tactile, physical work and the interaction of opposing spatial connections.
