Replacement Heart

My work is an exploration in fantasy. While taking my inspiration from aspects of the modern world, I recreate a new reality where impossible objects exist; where external organs can stave off death, where time-travel is possible through memory and where the known laws of physics are forgotten and magic occurs.

Many of these works employ specific characters from my past and my imagination to perpetuate an untold history. History is ultimately a remembered or recorded event, it is subject to error or false interpretation. My interest lies in the space between fact and fiction. We are conditioned, as viewers, to believe what we see. The presence of an object, however implausible, suggests a past which can neither be verified nor denied. A moment of wonder occurs. In a world where chaos, war, television, and money are predominant, I desire a simple world, somewhere in time, when one can find mystery around every turn.
