Communities in the 21st century are more integrated than ever before. The legacy of collage has become a social phenomena: homogenization is a thing of the past. Now, a wired world enables global intellectual networks. People belong to loose, technologically enabled affiliations that may be mismatched in person, even if unified in philosophy or in vision. Andy Cline creates exhibitions that highlight these alliances and relationships between by creating 'encoded' objects that serve as social surrogates.

As with different nations, the robot world and human society are sometimes at peace, sometimes at war. Cline's work explores this delicate balance, particularly with an interest in the ascendency of technology and the potential revolutions, both constructive and destructive, that it will bring in it's development. Systems, fantasy semiology, community development are all partners in development of the 21st century planet.
All media conspire. Mechanical sculptures and interactive video activate the art object with life. Humanity finds equality with our designed infrastructure. Equality between object and subject is the side effect.
