Alli Sharma is an artist based in London. Her paintings transform and monumentalise recognisable objects from her own childhood into painterly icons. The materiality of the surface is emphasised which means that decision making, marks and responses are revealed.

Sharma is interested in high/low culture, notions about identity and a particular kind of Englishness. The objects she is drawn to are discarded, mass-produced, domestic ornaments. The repertoire so far includes Spanish dancers, seaside souvenirs, Murano glass figurines, shell animals and Pelham puppets.
