Biography

Galaxy #1
There is an invisible template that guides the development of shapes in the physical world. Forming galaxies and melting ice follow the same geometric blueprint. The aesthetic rules for creation are consistent with those for decay.

My work explores the repetition of shapes in the natural world through experimentation with materials.

Pancake Ice Suite #2
By using the physical and chemical properties of the materials I work with to mimic the aesthetic and symbolic qualities of the subject matter, I try to create a deeper understanding of the essential nature shared by all things.

I am currently working on a series about the melting of polar ice, exploring the elegant patterns formed by this ominous phenomenon.
