Artist Statement:
Space maps a body's position in time. Time is the image of a body's movement in space.
Video is the collected relationships of visuals, sound and movement working together to construct meaning.
My time-based installations create interconnected and dynamic phenomenological experiences. I use them to explore change, indeterminacy and the states between. Oftentimes, viewers need to partake in these (nonlinear, reactive) installations in order to fully explore the experience. In a mediated world, what kind of perceptual space do we create when the vision and aurality is unsynchronized? My work explores how this condition might affect emotions and our understanding of realities.
The content in my work welcomes ambiguity. It is in the service of interaction and perceptual experience that an open-ended dialogue regarding meaning is fostered.
