In my series of color photographs entitled Reminders and Notations, I wanted to convey that seemingly inconsequential scenarios and objects of daily life are important, overwhelming, beautiful and strange. In concentrating on the history of visual language, I discovered how images can create meaning. And it is through this study, that I was inspired to create my own visual language. My “language” strives to communicate that in art, an image can stand in direct representation of an idea, an emotion, or a reminder of another time through the associations the viewer makes with that image. Because of subtle colors, isolated subjects, absence of people and a feeling of silence and timelessness in the pictures, the viewer can relate these images to their own memories and experiences.
