I am inspired by the ideas first investigated by the Fonds Regional d'Art Contemporain du Centre, Orleans, France (FRAC Centre) in the 1960's. I became intimate with this collection of drawings, blueprints, and architectural models while installing them at Thread Waxing Space in New York in 2000, for the show, Research Architecture, Selections from the FRAC Collection, Orleans, France. The FRAC Collection, ‘explores the architectural ramifications of concepts such as utopia, anticipation, and criticism’ (Research Architecture, Frenchculture.org). By striving to create harmonious hybrid sculptural forms that fuse nature and technology, I am trying to answer the questions posed by researching art-based architecture.

Much of the FRAC collection consists of drawings and models that were never intended to be built. I have modeled this body of work on that example, with the exception that I intend to fully execute my model, in a living, working architectural art form.

I use an interdisciplinary approach which includes drawing, collage, sculpture, architectural model making, photography, and installation to create a complete spectrum of ideas in the Manifest Destiny/Trailer Park series. My art addresses concepts of utopia, utilitarianism, perfect form, and examines how the forms that are used in the architectural reality of our world, connect to our ideas of evolution, manifest destiny and our relationship to conceptual and physical space.
