I make semi-abstract paintings in direct response to my immediate environment. The paintings focus on the overall experience and summation of location -- the heartbeat and the buzz of each particular place. The “real time” energy of life drives my painting as I move back and forth between urban and natural subjects where the contrasts and cross-fertilizations are cumulative, non-linear, free flowing and interpretive. As I paint, time slows down and the work becomes a record of place translated into paint.
