My work deals with authenticity, using conversation between painting and perceived reality, as a metaphor of ones self realisation. I am interested in a projected reality an image can take. What is important is the idea that the subject might exist. My ambition is that reality is not described solely by the painted image, but through associated memories triggered by the work. I reference romanticised ideals, which become sickly and almost perverse, using these aesthetics my work sometimes undermines them with crude craftsmanship or materials.

In ‘Chandelier 66’ I have created an installation combining sixty-six paintings on plaster, each attempting to represent the physical chandelier hanging in front of them.
