From the series Limbo: Sky scrappers, buildings, bridges, houses, markets are structures that are part of the aesthetic and identity of a city. New York, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Paris, San Juan, have particular buildings that distinguishes and makes them recognizable from one and the other. In addition, building’s architecture and the urban planning represent different power structure levels, economical, political, spatial, and social power.

I build architecture with photography. What I create with these images gives a different interpretation of architectural spaces. These pictures create a labyrinth, a complex place where one does not know where it leads to, what you will encounter when turning left or right or what city or building you are watching. Photographing architecture, I want to establish a universal link among cities, making virtual connections between details of structures from one city to the other. The concrete, steel and glass labyrinth becomes a metaphor of dissolving city identity; they are now one city instead of many cities. It could be anywhere. The monumentality that they embodied gives them the feeling that this labyrinth is endless, a universe within itself. Making you think what can be on the outside of the city.

These words with the structures affect on how a city is planned, how is develop, it’s (re) organization. With globalization, there are similarities in the design and the social arrangement of other cities. For example, the phenomenon of gentrification is a reality in New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and San Juan.
