My photographs are a way to appreciate the underappreciated in the urban context. To take a picture, I must first take a long walk. The streets are scenarios and the objects their actors. Some things improvise their acts. I see them and follow, improvising with my camera. I pay attention around, and then compose the image following my formal instinct.

I look for contrasts in color, confusing shapes, absurd relationships between objects in space, and quirk or humorous situations. What I like to photograph are “unintended street sculptures”. They are there but not everybody notice them.

I want things transcend their condition of banal objects; transform the mundane in beautiful images; animate and humanize objects. By framing my subjects in close-up, I emphasize their importance. In order to take good pictures, I walk and “see” everyday. Photography makes me more aware of my present moment. I capture images of this time just for the sake of reminding myself of the joys of what’s there for all of us.
